To our Jewish members on the eve of the High Holidays
A prayer from the Middle Ages says: ‘May the year end with all its curses, and may the new year begin with all its blessings.’ A terrible year is coming to an end – may the new year be better and sweeter.
We pray that 5786 may bring peace, the release of hostages and an end to violence.
We pray for all affected by this violence.
We wish you an end to this bitter year and its troubles, and that all which is bitter may be turned to sweetness in the new year.
Shana tova umetuka! May the New Year be a year of peace, health and blessings for you and your families.
May our societies and our world be healed – in the sense of shalom and shalem (wholeness).
