Shattering glass echoes in 21st century Australia

In this Kristallnacht address to the Western Australia Council of Christians and Jews on 9 November 2015, ACCJ Co-Chair Ron Hoenig touches briefly on the events of Kristallnacht, pointing out some little known history about the impact that its events had on a small group of Aboriginal people in Melbourne, looking at the post-war period when the Australian government was faced with an influx of Jewish refugees, and finally offering some reflections that connect these events and the Australian people’s reaction to asylum seekers.  He also reflects on some aspects of his own experiences.
