Distinguished Australian lawyer Mark Leibler AC in conversation with Dr Philip Bliiss OAM on the subject of ‘Pursuing Justice in the Face of Prejudice’, presented by the Council of Christians and Jews (Victoria) on Zoom, 1 November.
Mark Leibler AC is senior partner at Arnold Block Leibler and head of the firm’s international taxation practice. He is National Chair of the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council, Life Chairman of the United Israel Appeal of Australia, serves on the Jewish Agency for Israel and is a Governor of Tel Aviv University. His determination to use the law as an instrument of social justice also has been demonstrated by his profound contribution to Indigenous rights and reconciliation: he has been co- chair of Reconciliation Australia and has co-chaired both the Expert Panel and the Referendum Council on Constitutional Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
Dr Philip Bliss OAM has dedicated his life to intra- and interfaith cooperation. A recently retired successful dentist, he is Treasurer of the Australian Council of Christians and Jews, and President of Progressive Judaism Victoria. He is also an honorary life member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism. He has been President of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria, and later became Chair of the Council of Christians and Jews (Victoria).
